Hello Crafty Friends……I made this adorable cat card. It can be used for Valentine’s Day or any day you want to send a little love to someone.
I wanted to give the look of the cat sitting on the striped paper but, I didn’t want to fussy cut the whole cat. So instead, I cut out just the tail. I think it worked out pretty well and I didn’t have to cut the entire cat out.
So let’s get started!
First, I cut a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Card Stock to 3 15/16″ x 5 1/4″. Using Gina K Amalgam Black Ink, I stamped the cat image (from the Simon Says Stamp For All Moms Stamp set) onto the card stock and then stamped various hearts randomly on the card.
I put my paper in the Misti Stamping tool and prepped the paper with my embossing powder bag. Then I Stamped the Sentiment “My Heart is Yours” from the Simon Says Stamp Love Notes Sentiments with Versafine Black Ink. I covered the sentiment with Ranger Clear embossing powder and then when my Heat tool was good and hot, I embossed the sentiment.
Using my copic markers, I colored in the cat and the hearts. For the body I used C3 (Cool gray) and C5 (Cool Gray). For his chest I used NO- 1 (Neutral Gray). For the ears, cheeks and nose I used R11 (Pale cherry). For the hearts I used R24 (Prawn) and R29 (Lipstick Red).
Next, I take a craft knife and cut all around the tail. I make sure not to cut anything else. I use my Black Copic Marker (100) to color the edges of the tail so it looks like a shadow on the striped paper. Then, I take a piece of My Favorite Things Black and White Stripe Paper cut to 3 15/16″ x 1″. Using my Gina K Connect Glue I adhere the Pattern Paper under the cats tail.
I take a piece of piece of craft foam and adhere it to the back of the cat panel. Then I adhere the cat panel to a piece of Hero Arts Pitch Black Card Stock cut to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″. Then I glue the whole panel to a piece of card stock folded to 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″.
I like to add a little shine to my cards, so I added some Clear Wink of Stella to all of the hearts.
That completes my card for today. If you want to see how I made the card, check out my YouTube video below!
